The Second International Workshop on Information Theory for Sensor Networks (WITS 2008)
will be held in conjunction with the IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing in Sensor Systems (DCOSS 2008) in
Santorini Island, Greece on June 11, 2008.
Keynote Address:
"Energy Efficient Cooperative Inference in
Sensor Networks"
by Prof. Anthony Ephremides, University of Maryland
Technical Program Committee
João Barros, Universidade do Porto (workshop co-chair)
Aditya Ramamoorthy, Iowa State University (workshop co-chair)
Tracey Ho, California Institute of Technology
Sennur Ulukus, University of Maryland
Joerg Widmer, NTT DoCoMo Eurolabs
Invited contributions will take a look into recent information-theoretic results on the fundamental limits of sensor networks and then proceed to explore the engineering implications of the foundational research. Contributed papers are solicited in (but not limited to) the following areas:
Contributions by authors new to the information theory community are particularly encouraged.
Authors are invited to submit original unpublished manuscripts that demonstrate current research on information theory for sensor networks. Submitted manuscripts may not exceed 8 pages in the IEEE-Transactions style formatted for A4 paper using 10 point fonts.
Submissions will be judged on correctness, originality, technical strength, significance, quality of presentation, and interest and relevance to the workshop attendees. Submitted papers may not have appeared in or be under consideration for another conference or a journal. All manuscripts will be reviewed.
A PDF file of the paper should be submitted electronically via email to wits08@dcc.fc.up.pt
Paper submission deadline: April 10, 2008 (extended).
Authors will be notified of acceptance decisions by April 25, 2008. The final version, to be published in the workshop proceedings, will be due by May 15, 2008.Information regarding social program, workshop registration, and hotel accommodations will be available here.
Inquiries on general matters related to the workshop should be addressed to
