Brief Biography

I was born and raised in Larnaca at the beautiful island of Cyprus and my family comes from the illegally occupied city of Ammochostos/Famagusta . My first studies finished in 2006 with a B.Sc (Honours) in Computer Science from Middlesex University , London, UK. In 2007, I received my M.Sc (Distinction) in Advanced Computer Science with specialization in Critical Systems/Networks Engineering at the Computing Department , Lancaster University , UK. My particular interest in computer networks forced me to remain at Lancaster University and join the EU-IST FP6 Autonomic Network Architecture (ANA) project as a research assistant while pursuing a PhD in Computer Science funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) under the supervision of Prof. David Hutchison . Throughout my doctoral studies that ended successfully in 2011, I had the chance to get involved with several EU projects such as ResumeNet, InterSection as well as with EPSRC funded projects like the India-UK Advanced Technology Centre (IU-ATC). Since July 2011 I joined IT Porto as a post-doctoral fellow within the Carnegie Mellon University – Portugal collaborative scheme and I'm fully involved with the NeTS project . My work is mainly related with the statistical analysis and modeling of computer networks using signal processing and information theoretic methods.

I'm a member of the IEEE, ACM , ACM SIGCOMM and the Free Software Foundation(FSF) .
