On section 2.1 we have shown several ways of splitting a set of values into a set of intervals. These splitting methods need to know in advance the target number of intervals (i.e. the number of discrete classes). This number is obviously dependent on the domain in state. In this section we describe an iterative search approach to solve this problem of finding the number of discrete classes to be used.
