I am an Assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, Oporto University.

My Research Interests are:

Systems and Network Administration -- Theoretical and practical security.
Network Applications -- Support infrastructure and security for highly redundant and scalable web services.
Automatic detection of network intrusions based on unsupervised learning.
SPAM classification.
Generation of large scale overlay networks for Distributed Hash Tables based on small world concepts.
Large scale Digital Identity mechanisms for the Internet.

Awards and contracts

Coordinator of the student team that won the Niscayha Portugal 2008 prize "Desafio Securitas Systems - Novos Talentos, Inovação em Segurança Electrónica".
We have been awarded two projects out of ten for the Sapo Summerbits edition for 2008. The two projects are related to the development of smart card National card ID extensions for OpenID.
