Here is a list of the most significative awards and prizes I received as a researcher, student and programming contestant.

Conferences and Workshops

2017

2012

  • Best Paper Award at the 2nd ACM SIGMOD Workshop on Databases and Social Networks (DBSocial 2012).

Academic Prizes

2002

  • Received the Eng. António de Almeida Prize, for obtaining the best grade in the Computer Science undergraduate course in the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto (18 out of 20).

1990

  • Received the St. Casa da Misericórdia Student Prize for being the best student of all primary schools in the city of Vila Nova de Famalicão.

  • Received a Post-Doc grant from FCT, the portuguese Science and Technology Foundation.

2004

  • Received a PhD grant from FCT, the portuguese Science and Technology Foundation.

2001

  • Received a Merit Scholarship, given by the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto.

  • 1999 to 2003: always the best portuguese team

Other Awards

2019

  • Received the ICPC Joseph S. DeBlasi Outstanding Contribution Award, as a part of the ICPC University of Porto Team, "for advancing the art and science of computing, in the classroom and lab, and through providing gifted students in Europe and around the globe opportunities to pursue excellence through competitive programming. For over two decades, ICPC Porto volunteers have provided training and ICPC competitions culminating in hosting the 2019 ICPC World Finals in Porto."

2014

  • Received a "Louvor Pedagógico" (Pedagogical Honorable Mention) for good teaching practices, an award given by the students of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto.

2009

  • Received the IEEE 2009 MGA Achievement Award, as a part of the IEEEXtreme Team, for outstanding accomplishment and contributions toward the implementation of the 2009 IEEEXtreme Programming Contest.
