Biography:
Vasco T. Vasconcelos received his BSc degree in Informatics from New University of Lisbon, Portugal, in 1988. He received the MSc and PhD degrees in computer science from the University of Keio, Japan in 1992 and 1994, respectively. He is an associate professor at the Department of Informatics, University of Lisbon. His research interests include programming languages, concurrency, type systems, and mobile computing.

Luís Lopes graduated in Applied Mathematics/Computer Science at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, Portugal, in 1992. He received his MSc and PhD degrees in computer science from the same University, in 1995 and 1999, respectively, where he is now an assistant professor. His research interests include: programming languages, virtual machines, distributed systems and computer architecture.

António Ravara graduated in Applied Mathematics at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, Portugal, in 1991. He received the MSc degree in Applied Mathematics in 1996 and the PhD degree in Mathematics in 2000, both from the Technical University of Lisbon, where he is now Assistant Professor. His research interests include: semantics of programming languages, theory of concurrency and of mobile systems, type systems.

Francisco Martins received the BSc degree in Mathematics/Informatics from University of Azores, Portugal, in 1993. He received the MSc (by research) in computer science from the University of Azores, Portugal in 2000. He is a teaching assistant at the Department of Mathematics, University of Azores. His research interests include type systems, security, and distributed systems.

Hervé Paulino received the graduation and MSc degree in Computer Science from University of Porto, Portugal, in 1996 and 1998, respectively. He is currently working in his PhD thesis, "Infrastructures for Mobile Computations Over a Process-Calculi". He is a teaching assistant at the Department of Informatics, New University of Lisbon. His research interests include programming languages, concurrency, mobile agents, and distributed systems.

Fernando Silva is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department of the School of Sciences at the University of Porto (UP), Portugal. He was awarded his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, UK (1993). His primary research interests are in logic programming, programming languages, parallel and distributed computing, peer-to-peer computing and, applications in information mining and bioinformatics.
