NUCC - Computer Science Student Group

Created by students and for students, NUCC’s main goal is to bring together bright minds and spark new and exciting projects in the field of Computer Science. Although closely linked to the BSc in Computer Science (LCC) and the Integrated Master in Network and Information Systems Engineering (MERSI), NUCC is open to the entire academic community of the University of Porto. The group regularly organizes workshops, talks, and study groups. Among its initiatives, the annual UPDate event stands out, a weekend full of activities, learning, and networking.

xSTF - Extreme Security Task Force

xSTF - Extreme Security Task Force

Team composed of undergraduate and master’s students from the DCC. In addition to researching security vulnerabilities, organizing workshops and training sessions at the University, the team regularly takes part in competitions. It is currently led by students from the Master’s in Information Security and by Professor Manuel Barbosa. The team is ranked among the top 100 worldwide on ctftime.org. Weekly training sessions are open to students from all degree programmes at the University of Porto.

Hackers at Porto is a community created by undergraduate students and focused on exploring science through interdisciplinary technological projects. In addition to workshops, talks, and FLOSS contests, several HaP Events are organized — a hack it together environment to put ideas into practice in various areas.

Porto Graphics

A group of students in the field of computer graphics (CG) at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto who want to develop and apply their knowledge beyond the classroom. They bring together volunteer students with the aim of creating an active community for knowledge sharing, independent learning, and joint projects. They carry out many activities, such as workshops on film production, Photoshop, basic CG concepts, and other activities such as organizing a GameJam and roundtables to discuss topics in the field.
