Senior Scientist @ MOZN
Course at DCC:   PD:CC

Ahmad Naser Eddin holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and a PhD in Computer Science. He is currently a Senior Scientist at MOZN.

It is about his experience as a student at DCC-FCUP that he shares his testimony.

“I came to DCC from Syria to pursue my Master’s degree as an Erasmus Mundus student between 2014 and 2016. A few years later, I returned to complete my PhD (2019–2024), which shows just how special this place became to me. What struck me the most was the human environment at DCC — students and professors form a true community, with a spirit of mutual help and closeness that makes everyone feel at home. For me, coming from another country, that sense of welcome and belonging was simply extraordinary.

All the courses I attended were valuable and continue to have an impact on my professional life. In particular, the subjects related to algorithms, data science, and databases proved fundamental to the work I do today. The academic rigor, combined with the practical component, prepares us exceptionally well to face real-world challenges. Moreover, during my Master’s I had the opportunity to participate in research projects and collaborate with excellent researchers — experiences that strengthened my critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and, above all, the skill to identify the right problems to solve.

DCC is a unique place, and that’s because of the people who make it what it is. Every professor I met along the way was truly inspiring — they combine deep knowledge, humility, and a genuine concern for students. This rare combination creates an environment that is both welcoming and stimulating, where you feel motivated to learn more and do better.

This experience opened many doors for me: I had the opportunity to teach at the University of Porto, to work with outstanding professionals in Portugal, and more recently, to take on a new challenge abroad. I feel immense gratitude for everything I experienced at DCC — it was a transformative journey that shaped my career and the way I see the world.”
