Resumo:
The talk will present an overview of research from the Centre for Software Reliability (CSR) https://researchcentres.citystgeorges.ac.uk/software-reliability.
The centre’s research focus is on risk and dependability of technical and socio-technical systems, with a particular focus on systematic failures due to design faults and vulnerabilities. It will highlight some of the methods used, areas of ongoing research and the impact of this work on practical deployments, standards and policy. It will then also highlight some ongoing work on vulnerability lifecycle management, diversity with AntiVirus products for malware detection (collaborative work with the University of Maryland, USA) and use of LLMs to generate diverse software programs for fault tolerance (joint work with the University of Coimbra). My hope is that there will be a wide range of topics with enough high level details to spark some further discussions with CSR on potential research collaborations.
Bio:
Ilir is a Professor at City St George’s, University of London and the Director of the Centre for Software Reliability. Ilir’s research focuses on the quantitative assessment of dependability and security in software-based systems. A key area is evaluating fault-tolerant and intrusion-tolerant systems that use design diversity, where multiple diverse protection or end systems are combined to improve overall dependability and security.
