Correction Note that this may not be honoured by Firefox, but only by Thunderbird.

For having firefox request master password at specified time (instead of only asking it once during the session), use about:config and set:

security.password_lifetime: for the time in minutes

security.ask_for_password where

  • 0 don’t ask
  • 1 ask every time needed
  • 2 ask every password_lifetime
