No próximo dia 13 de Março, pelas 13h45 na sala FC6-0.29 (Anf. 2) no DCC, Nuno Moniz irá dar uma palestra intitulada "Machine Learning is gullible, insecure and inefficient."
Nuno Moniz obteve formação em Engenharia Informática pelo Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP-IPP) em 2012 e completou o seu doutoramento em Ciência de Computadores na Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto (FCUP) em 2017, com uma dissertação sobre machine learning e a previsão de valores raros e extremos, premiada no Fraunhofer Portugal Challenge 2017. É neste momento pós-doutorando no LIAAD-INESC TEC, onde também co-coordena o Data Science Hub (interface com indústria), e é Professor Convidado na FCUP em disciplinas de programação e deteção de fraude.
A palestra é organizada pelo DCC-FCUP e pelo grupo de investigação LIAAD-INESCTEC e é aberta a todos os interessados.

"Today, the impact of machine learning is immense and undeniable. However, while in the hype (now it's deep learning) and exploring how it can be applied to new domains, there are a few important issues around the corner in the evolution of ML that should be discussed. This talk will focus on three arguments (provocations) where today's ML is mostly 1) gullible, 2) insecure, and 3) energy-inefficient."
