No próximo dia 17 de Maio pelas 15h00 na sala FC6-0.29 no DCC, o Diogo Cordeiro, atual aluno da L:CC, irá dar uma palestra intitulada ”A tour of ActivityPub - getting to know the Modern Fediverse”.
Diogo Cordeiro, estudante do segundo ano da Licenciatura em Ciência de Computadores da Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto, a realizar formação complementar com foco em robótica, sistemas e controlo, apresenta um interesse geral em engenharia de software, redes e sistemas escaláveis. É, actualmente, co-maintainer do GNU social, um software usado em redes sociais descentralizadas. Neste, implementou o protocolo ActivityPub e o formato ActivityStreams 2.0 - state-of-the-art (recomendações W3C de 2018 e 2017, respectivamente) - na comunicação de software deste tipo de redes. Neste momento, encontra-se a organizar o Google Summer of Code 2019 no GNU social, sendo também mentor desta edição do programa.
A palestra é organizada pelo DCC-FCUP e pelo grupo de Hackers at Porto e é aberta a todos os interessados.

"The ActivityPub protocol is a decentralised social networking protocol based upon the ActivityStreams 2.0 data format. It provides a client to server API for creating, updating and deleting content, as well as a federated server to server API for delivering notifications and content. In this talk, we will go for a small tour through the history of the fediverse, the context in which ActivityPub was introduced, the internals of its implementation among other challenges we find on the software engineering of a federated social network. At the end of this journey, we should be able to better understand some of the advantages of this kind of social platforms as well as some of the technical complications in their maintenance and conception."
